RAJANS Family Day and The Battle of Maroons

On the radiant day of September 3rd, 2023, the Rajans Family Day and the Battle of the Maroons unfolded at the Caldecote Cricket Ground in Cambridge. Bathed in glorious sunshine, this event was a true celebration of camaraderie and competition.


In the spirited House Cup showdown, Mahinda House emerged victorious, showcasing their prowess by triumphing over Ananda and Parakrama Houses. The cheers and applause echoed across the grounds as Mahinda House claimed the coveted cup.


The afternoon brought with it the highly anticipated Battle of the Maroons, where the Rajans OBU UK and Kingswood OBU UK teams clashed in a thrilling encounter. Ultimately, Kingswood OBU UK secured the prestigious trophy with a commanding victory over Dharmaraja, besting them by 36 runs.


RAJANS won the toss and elected to field first, allowing Kingswood to set the stage. Kingswood's innings displayed brilliance, amassing a formidable 172 runs in just 20 overs, with Sandaru leading the charge with a spectacular half-century. In response, RAJANS valiantly chased but could score only 136 runs by the end of their 20 overs.


The festivities didn't stop there, as guests were treated to an exhilarating soft ball cricket match between Mahamaya Girls College and Girls High School Kandy. In a closely contested match, Girls High School clinched victory, adding another layer of excitement to the day.


Amidst the sportsmanship and competition, the gathering enjoyed a delightful spread of Sri Lankan cuisine and beverages, perfectly complemented by the rhythmic melodies of the band ROOTS, creating a harmonious atmosphere that resonated with the spirit of the day. It was a truly memorable occasion, celebrating sports, culture, and the bonds of friendship.
