Festival of Cricket - 2012

Example frontpage imageThe Festival of Cricket, the biggest annual gathering of the Sri Lankan community in the UK will take place on the 8th of July 2012 at Winchmore Hill Cricket Club, Fords Grove, London N21 3ER. As in previous years, Old Rajans cricket team will be competing in the tournament. We wish the team every success for a great day. If you are free this Sunday then please come along and cheer on our team!

Old Rajans summer family get-together

Example frontpage imageInitiated by a group of young Old Rajans, the innaugural summer family get-together drew a sizeable number of Old Rajans with their families and friends living in and around London. This event which was held on the bank holiday Monday, 29 August near Harrow provided a lively and entertaining atmosphere for everyone to enjoy with a variety of foods, drinks, music and games for both young and old. The organising group and Ex-co wish to thank all who participated for making the day so memorable.

Obituary: A.S. Ekanayake

Example frontpage imageAn Old Rajan and former cricketer AS Ekanayakae passed away on September 11 (Sunday). AS played junior and First IX cricket at the College and was in the victorious 1980 Dharmaraja cricket team in the Annual Big Match against Kingswood under Janaka Mendis and AS kept wickets.

After leaving school, AS joined Ceylon Tobacco Company in 1980 and played cricket for the company at the Mercantile 'A' Division Cricket Tournament for a number of years. He also played for Kandy Cricket Club and captained for several years. He was also an active member of Kandy District Cricket Association. AS was big part of the Old Boys Association and initiated and led a number of development and fundraising projects at the College. He was also the founder member of 75 Group of Dharmaraja College.

He was a loving and caring father to his two sons, husband to his wife, and son to his parents and in-laws. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and fellow Old Rajans. His funeral was held on September 14 at Mahaiyawa General cemetery, Kandy. May he attain supreme Nibbana!

Touch Rugby Carnival 2011

Example frontpage imageOld Rajans touch rugby team led by Dhanushka Herath emerged the Plate runners-up at Sri Lanka Schools Touch Rugby Carnival held at Harrow Rugby Club on 30th July 2011. The team comprised Pradeep Munidasa, Sahan Ratnayake, Kavindu Hettiarachchi, Udayanga Lakmal Wijesekara, Kasun Buddika Kaluarachchi, Don De Silva Wickramanayake, Nuwan Ratnayake, Gihan Ishara Herath, Ishanka Rathnayake. OBU UK wishes to thank and congratulate the team for their success at the tournament. Speacial thanks should also go to all those who turned up to support our team.
